How we Train

Conquest Communications has developed over the years a unique online learning management system (LMS) tailored to our specific training needs. We deliver all theory through the online LMS and pair this learning with practical hands on days.

This system provides the flexibility to learners to log in at their own convenience to undertake their study. It minimises the time learners take away from work as study can be completed after hours which in turn maximises time spent on paid work. Each unit of competency is broken in to smaller sized subjects which means that the learners are not locked to the computer for large periods of time. Assignments can be uploaded directly to their profile for marking by our industry experienced trainers and assessors.

Below is a table outlining the hourly breakdown of the different delivery methods for this course. Please be advised that this is a guide only and that a learners experience level, Recognition of Prior Learning applications, personal/work commitments etc. will impact on the length required to complete this training.

2 hours online study a week  ~  1 day classroom attendance  ~  360 hours field experience  ~  To be completed within 6-12 months

NB: This course can be completed a lot quicker depending on the learners background and experience. Most of our students can complete the online study in as little as a week if they are motivated.

Our assessors are experienced in applying recognition of prior learning (RPL), so if a learner is trade qualified (even in a different field), an experienced cabler, or has completed other similar nationally recognised training, then in most cases RPL or Credit Transfers can be applied with the submission of supporting evidence.

Field Experience

In addition to completion of relevant competency requirements, candidates must demonstrate on-the-job cabling experience when applying for their Open Registration with an ACMA Registrar. Click  on the below headings to view the field experience declaration requirements.

  • Restricted Field Experience Declaration Form
  • Open Field Experience Declaration Form

Further Information regarding these requirements can be found at http://www.acma.gov.au/Industry or the ACMA registrar of your choice.

Equipment and Tools

This training leads to trade level qualifications. Thus a good tradesman must own the appropriate test equipment to perform competently as a trade qualified person. We also appreciate that the more expensive items are often simply hired as needed by you or your company.

We supply all of the required tools and equipment for learners at their hands on training days.

Learners must complete all assignments and purchase the necessary kits and test equipment needed.

Units that have additional costs;

ICTTEN208 - Use electrical skills when working with telecommunications networks - electronic kit required approx. <$40 per learner.

ICTWHS204 Follow work health and safety and environmental policy and procedures – While not a mandatory requirement to gaining competency for this unit it is our strong recommendation that learners hold and submit a current First Aid Certificate with CPR and Construction White Card.

Working in the telecommunications industry means working within potentially dangerous workplace environments and often working within construction sites. In general you will be working with other people who may suffer an accident

It is also the Law that you possess a Building Construction Induction card to work on construction sites.

Training Locations

We’re a Nationally Recognised Training Organisation and can train all over Australia. All our training gear is transportable increasing our ability to train in many places other companies can't go. We have experienced and qualified Trainers who travel across Queensland each year conducting our training and full time trainers in Brisbane and Bundaberg. We also have Trainers in other states.

For Training outside of the above mentioned locations and in other states please call us first and we’ll let you know where the closest trainer is to you and how quickly we might be able to line up the schedule to meet your training needs. If you sign up 5 or more learners we can travel to you and deliver the hands on training in your own workshop. For an additional fee, we can also attend your workplace to deliver training if you do not have the 5 or more learners. These training days at your workplace can include the weekend to minimise the loss of your normal weekday working hours.  Alternatively if you are registering as an individual, or your company has less than these numbers, we schedule courses in the major towns throughout the year, and your learners can attend these sessions.

Due to the unpredictable nature of regional training, Regional learners purchasing Conquest training must be aware that our guarantee to deliver the training as close to them as possible is only valid for the first year of their enrollment. If after 1 year they have not finished their training (hands on component) we reserve the right to request that they travel to our nearest training location at their expense. We would not ask this lightly and it would only occur if the Trainer in the learner’s location is unable to complete the training due to health, personal/professional issues or they are no longer working for Conquest Communications. Where possible prior notice to learners would be provided.
